About this Role

As part of our ongoing reshaping within eir Business our strategy has been to re-position eir as an integrated telecommunications and information technology services provider.  A key component of this strategy is the capability of successfully delivering complex solutions to eir business customers.   These solutions typically have multiple elements including, telecommunications infrastructure, CPE, IT applications, third party components and include consultative engagements. These solutions must be delivered within the project triple constraints while also integrated successfully with the customer’s operations/ business process and into the support function within eir Business.  

The role of the senior project manager is to act as the CEO for the projects and programme/s.  The senior project manager is the business leader for the customer while implementing the projects and programme/s and takes total accountability for planning, structuring, leading and executing large complex/high risk projects. Typically the senior project manager will assist in shaping the customers thinking during  the early stages of engagement to quantify the business requirements.  The senior project manager will then be responsible for developing those requirements into a tangible project for execution. 

What is expected from the Role?

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify and develop project and programme opportunities and translate into detailed project and programme plans

  • End to end management of large complex / high risk projects including developing detailed project plan, selecting and overseeing project managers, liaising with suppliers, managing 3rd party involvement, managing customer relationship through execution phase 

  • Development and implementation of recovery projects

  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion, develop and implementation of stakeholder management plan up to CEO level

  • Additional review generation through projects and opportunity development 

  • Use of advance project management tools and techniques

  • Effective effort estimating and supporting of pre sales function

  • Build and maintain relationships within key areas across eir e.g. networks, product management, sales channels, finance, wholesale, credit management, IT, billing, legal, regulatory and compliance where necessary

  • Manage own personal development effectively

  • Assume line management responsibility for staff engaged on medium – long term projects

  • Maintain a focus on the quality of deliverables to meet major project objectives

  • Support to pre-sales bid process (meet customer/ advise on tender response doc/provide high level plan for implementation of project

  • Ensuring billing is correct, service is set up, design implemented and hand-over of completed project to service

  • Support the ongoing professional development of the business

  • To build and maintain relationships within key areas across eir e.g. networks, product management, sales channels, finance, wholesale, credit management, IT, billing, legal, regulatory and compliance where necessary

  • Contribute positively to the overall team culture, PMO and vision

  • Management of profitability of products/services/solutions within signed off commercials as per bid process for ICT Projects

  • Revenue Generation per annum for professional services

  • Development of: 

    • Project Portfolio actuals v’s baseline 

    • Utilisation levels

    • Delivery satisfaction levels

  • Understanding of the Group & Business strategy

  • Adherence to Performance Management process

  • Host external events to promote eir professional services within the specific industry.

  • 100% on-time completion of performance plans and reviews.

Other Skills

  • Qualifications – Business/Science Degree/PMP Diploma – working toward / achieved Masters level a plus

  • Experience - Min 10 years industry experience 

  • Proven track record of managing recovery projects

  • Proven track record of working at CEO customer level

  • Industry Background – Comms/ICT/Consulting/SI

  • Experience in large scale project management with recognised qualification
