Interview Tips!

  • Find out as much information as possible about the job before the interview

  • Read through the role profile in detail prior to the interview

  • If you know somebody who works there or who has worked there, ask them about the job, business area and structure

  • Read through your  CV before the interview, as the interviewer is likely to base their questions on the information you have given

  • Draw up a list of your strengths and weaknesses in relation to the job

  • Ensure that you can describe yourself and your experiences in and out of work—be prepared to give examples of occasions when you showed or used particular skills, knowledge and attributes relevant to the position

  • Dress appropriately. You should portray an image of professionalism, confidence and competence

  • When asked a question, pause to compose a concise and relevant answer

  • Be alert and aware throughout the interview. Recognise your non-verbal signals such as eye contact, facial expression, and gestures

  • Speak clearly and listen closely

  • Volunteer information and elaborate on an issue if prompted by the interviewer

  • If you do not understand a question, ask for clarification
